Hey Chargers,
Well we had a tough meet on Saturday. But we definitely fought hard and the kids are improving! We have 2 more dual meets left and they are going to be close meets. If we keep working hard in practice we will definitely come home with a victory. Calverton is in the hunt for a top 3 finish in the division.
And on to the reason why we are in the hunt for a top 3 finish. Calverton finishes 3rd in the Division H relay carnival. We had a strong showing Sunday Morning. Calverton's strengths showed at the meet. We had 3 relay teams that qualified for All Stars. 15&18 Mixed Free, 15&18 Mixed Medley, and 8&Under Girls Medley Relay. Congrats! Casey Stodter, Michael Jolly, Adrienne Bush, Rachel Glasser, Danielle Haley, Jacqueline Bielec, Mia Gibbs & Aundrea Clark. I am very proud of all of the swims today. It was awesome. Out of the 6 teams that were there we were one of 2 teams that did not have a DQ.
B Meet Sign Up will go up tomorrow. The meet will be @ Stonegate.
There will be NO PRACTICE on FRIDAY July 4th!! Go out and celebrate the holiday. Just get in bed at a decent time so you can swim well on Saturday Morning vs. Garrett Park. It will be the final home meet for our graduating seniors, Chris Foley, Stephen Doore, Ross Mills, & Rachel Glasser.
Again if you have any questions please shoot me an email murells@hotmail.com or catch me on the deck after practice.
Tony

While I was at practice today I thought of more information that I wanted to get out.
The coaches and I have come up with a challenge for the kids.
IF THE KIDS HIT 90% BEST TIMES FOR THE WEEK OR GET A VICTORY ON SATURDAY, TONY WILL SHAVE HIS HEAD!! Not the normal head shaving since I don't have much hair to begin with. I am going to shave it DR. PHIL style!!! That is right NO hair on the top but hair on the sides and back. If we hit this mark then I will leave it for the rest of the season.
Again this is going to be a very close meet this coming weekend. We need ALL Chargers there screaming and yelling. Whether you are swimming in the meet or not. Please be there dressed in your Army attire!!
We are also going to be graduating Tyler Carlson who is going to be leaving us for West Point. Congrats Mongoose!! (Tyler's old nickname)
We also have several Calverton swimmers making a run at the MCSL Coaches Longcourse Meet. This is a meet where the league takes the top 8 swimmers in each event and they swim long course meters (LCM). (MCSL meets are swum in short course meters or SCM) Basically it is a mid season All Star Meet where the swimmers go twice the distance. This is the last weekend to qualify. Calverton swimmers that are in the hunt are Michael Jolly, Rachel Glasser, Casey Stodter, Mia Gibbs, Jacqueline Bielec. Let's really help them in the quest to make this meet.
Finally, the scratch book. Although I really like to see everyone at the meet I do know that people have to miss for various events. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE sign the book as soon as you know you can not make a meet. That is KEY! I also need for you to either speak to me on deck or email me. This is my double check so I know that you are not able to make it. Sometimes in the craziness of summer swimming I could forget a swimmer can not be at a meet.
Again, if any questions please send me an email at murells@hotmail.com or catch me on deck after practice.
Thanks,
Tony

Hey Everyone,
Saturday was a really close meet. Although we came out a little short, I was very happy with the way we swam. 30 points in a MCSL meet is very very tight.
By the way the results are looking, we should have close meets most of the season. So we are definitely going to need everyone at the meets.
Morning practices start this week. We will be doing Stroke Clinics, on Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday Evening this week. Tuesday will be breaststroke. Thursday will be butterfly, and Friday will be Starts & Turns. These clinics are additional work. All clinics will start at 7pm and run about 30 mins.
B Meet sign up is in the main office. I will take it down on Wednesday after practice.
Again, if anyone has questions please email or catch me on the deck after practice.
Thanks,
TM

Here is the 2008 Swim Team Registration Form . (YOU MUST BE REGISTERED TO SWIM IN THE FIRST MEET).
There ia a folder to place Swim Team Registration forms. This folder will be kept in the Office where the Scratch Book is located. Please ask a Life Guard if you need help finding this folder. Sign-ups will continue as needed, but please email David Clifford so he can add your child's name to the list so we know how to plan for the season.
Please send website questions and suggestions to email2008@calverton.us
